WHAT I AM USING
A little about Olaplaex
Olaplex is a hair care brand who use a patent technology to mend the bonds in extremely damaged hair. Olaplaex have products ranging from No 0 to No 7. It took me a while to get my head around what all the numbers meant so let me break it down for you:
- No 0 (Intensive bond building treatment) – Hair treatment
- No 3 (Hair Perfector) – Hair treatment. (You get a little tube with the No 0 but you can also buy this on his own)
- No 4 (Shampoo)
- No 5 (Conditioner)
- No 6 (Bond smoother) – Styling creme
- No 7 (Bonding oil) – Hair oil
Salon Products (In-salon service)
- No 1 (Bond multiplier)
- No 2 (Bond perfecto)
So I have been using the Olaplex No 4 and No 5 products for about a month. Before I get into the actual products can we just talk about the ‘look’. I know this may sound silly but I am a sucker for nice looking products and I love how these look in my bathroom! Very minimal and stylish! In terms of price, the shampoo and conditioner are both £26 each for 250ml.
The Olaplex shampoo is thick (a good thick) and you only need the tiniest amount for it to lather up. The shampoo smells gorgeous and clean but I wouldn’t say the smell is strong or over powering.
The conditioner also has a think consistency and again, you only need a tiny amount. I only add the conditioner to my ends as I find my hair gets very greasy if I add it to my scalp. The conditioner is a little weird as it’s not like traditional ‘silky’ feeling conditioners. The Oplaplex conditioner just gets absorbed by the hair – it feels as though you’ve not added anything to the hair! So surreal!
Final thoughts of Olaplex No 4 and No 5
Now I am a month in, I can say I am beginning to notice the condition of my hair improving and styling my hair is easier. I can now let my hair air dry without it becoming a massive frizzy mess- whoop whoop! I am getting less fly aways (still have some) and I am hoping the more I use the Olaplex products, the better my hair condition will become. I have also noticed my hair does not get as greasy as it used to with my old shampoo. I can now go 6-7 days without washing my hair (I know that’s gross) and I love it!. I have also found day 2 hair is the best – it’s bouncy and full of volume. (I have never really liked my day 1 hair as it’s always too flat and never does what I want it to!)
P. s You may not notice an improvement in your hair condition straight away (the products are created to mend bonds rather than improve condition straight away).
So they are my first impressions and I will keep you posted on any changes and how I get on with the Olaplex No 4 and No 5 over the next few months. I’d love to know if you have tried Olaplex shampoo and conditioner or other Olaplex products?
